This Boston bathroom was stripped down to the studs and rebuilt from the inside out.

Before anything pretty went up, we handled what matters most in a New England home: cement-board waterproofing, a moisture barrier behind the shower, and insulation in the exterior wall — so a Boston winter never means cold tile or mildew.

Then the design came to life: a walk-in shower wrapped in Carrara marble-look tile, a hexagon pebble-stone shower floor, a recessed niche for storage, a frameless sliding glass door that opens up the space, and a soft Tiffany-blue that lets the whole room exhale.

A good bathroom doesn’t need to be big — clean, quiet, and warm is a small daily luxury.
