We tore this Walpole, Boston backyard deck down to the frame and rebuilt it — and the biggest move was relocating the stairs on both levels.

· Upper deck: the stairs used to drop straight down → we moved them off to the side (opens up the middle, smoother and safer)

· Right deck: the stairs angled off to the left → moved to the side too, freeing a big space for a future patio — plus we expanded it from about 5ft to over 8ft deep

· Underneath: old 2×8 joists swapped for 2×10, and waterproofing tape before the boards

· Composite boards with hidden fasteners; stair treads finished with clean edges — that’s where the carpentry shows

Same backyard: tired and in-the-way → open, usable, and patio-ready. The owner couldn’t believe it.
